With snow and ice on the ground, activity is a little slow but just wait until Spring Break is over and the market will break loose!! Our first quarter is better than ever! Sellers are selling and buyers are buying despite the national negative media.
I heard stats this week regarding new construction. In Bloomington over the past several years we have seen 500 to 550 new homes built. In 2006, new home permits dropped to 425 and in 2007, new home permits dropped to 366. When new construction permits drop, we typically see remodeling permits increased which has been the case this time.
The good news for sellers is there isn't as much new construction to compete with when selling!

It's getting busy!
We are so busy showing and leasing rentals we can hardly keep up! Students are definitely wanting to get their places secured before Spring Break arrives and that is just around the corner! On top of the rental business activity, the sales are seeing good activity. Our website hits more than doubled in January from December. The interest rates appear to be staying down which makes it easier to afford more square footage for the same money. I recently traveled to Honolulu for an extensive CRS training. They focused on the market changes, buyer opportunities and pricing homes to sell ...not keep.
